Changes in Slovenian Procedure

Malta is not the only country revising their national final plans - Slovenia also decided to go for a lighter version with a few changes.

On the contrary to what i already posted here the 2 semi finals became one, and the 20 participating songs reduced to 14.

After 2007 & 2008 where only televoting has being in use, after the HUGE scandal with the juries vote in 2006 where they picked ghastly Andej Dezan over the obviously deserving Sasa Lendero (awarding her 0 points even thou she won both the SMS and Televoting and was quite an obvious selection over that cuttlefish, which says something about the integrity of them) the juries are back into the game in Slovenia.

Also there will be no Superfinal in which the 2 top placed entries will be competing one against the other.

Unlike previous years there will be one voting round in which the winner will be selected which is quite a tension killer since the Slovenian superfinals were so exciting with only a few votes coming between the winner and the looser -unlike in the first round of voting.

6 songwriters who had the at most success in recent years in Slovenia are going to be invited by RTSLO to write a song which a singer selected by the songwriter will sing. Beside those 6 every other musicians in Slovenia are invited to send a song for EMA.

After the internal selection 14 songs will finally be up for the EMA - and while it is not known how many will be selected from the invited entries and how from all the other, it is known that a maximum of 6 will be selected from the entries submitted by the invited artist and a maximum of 8 from all the others, and anyway the songs selected by invited artists will automatically qualify for the final.

The voting will be 50:50 Televoting and Juries which make me wonder since so far the juries has always voted the exact opposite from the audience which caused a riot mainly on 2006 by the Slovenian audience and the labels.
