Cyprus back from it's summer recess

Cyprus has just waken up from the Eurovision summer slumber and it's broadcaster - PIK, has announced the rules regarding the Cypriot national final:

1. The format of this year Cypriot selection will be almost the same as last
year's format which is one national final with no semi finals and ten songs selected by a group of juries.

2. The selection is opened to any Cypriot citizen regardless of their country of residence, or any other European citizen (composer or lyricist only) who has been living in Cyprus for the last two years at least.

3. The songs submitted can be in any language but they can't have been submitted nor they can't be offered to any other broadcaster if submitted to the Cypriot final.

4. The Songs has to be sent to the address:
Eurovision Song Contest 2009, Cyprus National Final
Television Programs Department, Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation
P.O. BOX 24824, 1397
Nicosia, Cyprus

5. The Deadline for submitting songs is 28/11/2008.

6. A group of 7 jury members will make a list of 20 songs from all the songs submitted and out of those 20 songs - 10 songs will be picked to participate in the final.

7. The jury members will be selected by a draw from a list of 14 people suggested to the job and their identities will not be revealed.

8. Unlike previous years, this time the winner will be selected solely on the votes of the televoting and the juries vote will be used only in case of a collapse of the televoting system.

9. Another change in the rules is that CyBc, the Cypriot broadcaster doesn't deny a possibility where the winning song will have a promo tour - unlike last year when it was obvious that it wouldn't be possible due to budget issues.

10. lastly, as usual the finalists should not be broadcasted or else made available for the public before the final and a breach of this rule will be a ground for disqualifying the song.
