Norway: dates and procedureOver 350 entries has being submitted to the Norwegian selection this year, which is far from the 600 from last year - but consider the fact that this year it's open for Norwegian artists only it's kind of a step up cause last year there were a lot less than that on the original artists side of the submissions.
The reason behind the move of opening the submission to Norwegians only is because NRK, the broadcaster wants it to be a chance for Norwegians artists to make the better of themselves on the national & international stage.
Althought a partnership between foreign citizens and Norwegians is allowed, there should be a Norwegian involvement in the submission of no less than half of it.
There will be 4 Semi Finals -
1st Semi Final - 24/01/09 in Kongsvinger
2nd Semi Final - 31/01/09 in Bodo
3rd Semi Final - 07/02/09 in Skien
4th Semi Final - 14/02/09 in Alesund
The top 2 songs in each of the first 3 semi finals will be qualified to the final, while the the songs in the 3rd and 4th place will have another chance in the 4th semi final. The voting will be by Televoting.
The Final will be held on the 21/02/09 at The Spektrum in Oslo.
